MR. THOMPSON - CLASS OVERVIEW AND EXPECTATIONS. 

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School year, one which will be unlike any other (hopefully) in your lifetimes.  The COVID-19 Pandemic will undoubtedly create challenges along the way, as a teacher I will be patient and flexible, just ask you do the same and when there are issues that we have communication so I can assist advise or simply know what is causing challenges.  In situations like this, its important to control what we can control, most notably our effort and our attitude.  Stay positive, things will get frustrating at times for all of us but just take a deep breath and remember there are sometimes challenges that are out of your control especially when dealing with technology on a daily basis.  Computers, wifi, printers etc all at times have a mind of their own.  Be patient, be positive and we will work through it together. 

There are 3 Main Resources we will utilize during the 20-21 Distance Learning component.  

1. School Loop - School Loop will be essentially the grade component as well as often times the email communication piece of Distance learning. All Students should register ASAP with a student account.  If you had one from last year at Walters, its the same you do not need to re-register. 

Parents should set up their own Parent School Loop account.  One mistake where parents often miss out on crucial information is that information sent to parent accounts or student accounts can be different, so just relying on using your students account to get info can create an information gap.  

2. Google Classrooms - Students should join Google Class in their respective periods as soon as possible. Here are the 20-21 class codes

3. Zoom - Zoom will be the platform for live class instruction, this will be given daily.  Live instruction will always start at the beginning of class and will be a minimum each day of half of the class period.   Zoom links will be emailed out as well as available on Google Class as soon as they are set up.
